We believe that almost every MMA fan is literally counting down the days and hours until the UFC 280 event. Although the entire fight card looks spectacular, the biggest focus is still on Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev.
The lightweight title bout is attracting an incredible amount of attention, but that's not surprising when you consider that it will be fought by two fighters with impressive winning streaks. Oliveira is on an 11-fight winning streak and Makhachev is on 10.
Both have been unstoppable for quite some time, but one streak will come to an end on Saturday night. There is no doubt that the UFC has invested a lot in promoting this event and especially this match, so during the entire "fight week" we will surely watch a bunch of great content related to the event itself.
We will try to keep you updated on every promo video that the UFC shares, and this time we are sharing a video called "You Can Run, But You Can't Hide." It is actually a statement by Islam Makhachev that the Dagestani sent to the entire lightweight division after his victory over Bobby Green.
Islam often points out that many high-ranking challengers reject him for the match, and now he has finally come into his own and will fight for the title. Charles Oliveira is a fighter who certainly does not run away from anyone and of course he agreed to fight even against such a dangerous fighter as Islam Makhachev.
“I think Islam deserves all the respect in the world,” Oliveira said “but I think he should’ve fought somebody maybe in the top five like I did, not just surf on someone else’s wave and skip the line like he did”.
One of the narrators in that announcement is Michael Bisping who described Makhachev with the words "He is the new Khabib". That's how many actually look at Islam Makhachev, and whether Charles Oliveira will succeed in defeating the "new Khabib", we will find out on Saturday, in the late hours.
