UFC Rankings Update: P4P rankings add Alex Pereira, Makhachev jumps again

The last two UFC PPV events (UFC 280 and UFC 281) caused significant changes in the official ranking and even in the "P4P" ranking. First, Islam Makhachev jumped to the high third place of that ranking by defeating Charles Oliveira, and three weeks later Makhachev was ranked second in the "P4P" ranking.

Namely, Israel Adesanya lost to Alex Pereira and dropped from second to sixth place in the ranking of the best fighters on the entire roster. Alex Pereira is a new face on the pound-for-pound rankings, and he is placed in eighth place, two below Adesanya.

With the fall of Adesanya, Leon Edwards jumped two places up and is now in third place, while Volkanovski is still in first place. Volkanovski and Makhachev will fight in the second month of next year, and it is obvious that the UFC will sell the fight as a showdown between the top and second-ranked fighters in the ranking of the best fighters in the UFC.

As far as changes in weight categories are concerned, there were of course. Dan Hooker, with his victory against Puelles, jumped up one place and is now 11th in the ranking of lightweight challengers. Renato Moicano defeated Brad Riddell and is a new name in the top 15.

The Brazilian took 13th place, thus pushing Conor McGregor one more step down to drop out of the top 15. The Irishman is currently 14th in the rankings.

Reyes slipped from seventh to 12th in the standings

Dominick Reyes suffered a big fall.

A former light heavyweight title challenger, he was brutally knocked out by Ryan Spann in his fourth straight loss. Reyes slipped from seventh to 12th in the standings, while Spann jumped from 12th to 10th. Rakić is still fourth.

Zhang Weili regained her strawweight belt, and Carla Esparza is now the top-ranked challenger, while Rose Namajunas dropped to second. When it comes to the women's P4P rankings, Zhang jumped three places and is now in third place, behind Valentina Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes.
