Derrick Lewis released from hospital following stomach issue

Last night's UFC Fight Night 215 event was left without the main fight of the night after Derrick Lewis was pulled from the fight due to health issues that were not known or written about at the time. Thus, Serghei Spivac was left without an opponent at the last moment, and it is assumed that the fight against Derrick Lewis will be moved to another date.

Now it is already known what caused Lewis's health problems, due to which he was not allowed to perform. Namely, his stomach hurt. "The Black Beast" was also released from the hospital after detailed examinations, which means that it was not a serious problem, but still enough for him not to perform.

Let's remember, Ilir Latifi kept quiet about his leg problem, which eventually led him to receive a three-month suspension for covering up a potentially fatal situation.

"They are saying now Lewis is back from the hospital and still wants to fight, I’m not trolling as some suggested but just updating as I hear from the staff, now claiming they are going to try to still have the fight, will update as I hear more" tweeted Chris Hunichen.

Derrick Lewis seemed more motivated than ever, considering that he has been defeated three times in his last four appearances, and his stay in the UFC probably depended on this fight.

Although he has had very good results since entering the UFC, and almost always won, luck has not really followed him lately. First he was beaten by Cyril Gane, then by Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich. Sergey Spivak, on the other hand, is in a very good streak; in the last six appearances, he registered as many as five victories.

Lewis was supposed to be a serious test for him, and also a springboard for the eventual opportunity to fight for the belt next year. Whether the UFC will just postpone the match against Lewis or find him another opponent remains to be seen.
