The Ultimate Fighting Championship's light heavyweight division has seen its fair share of turmoil in recent months. With injuries and unexpected absences plaguing the division, fans were left wondering who would come out on top.
However, at UFC 283, one fighter emerged victorious from the chaos: Jamahal Hill. In a highly-anticipated matchup, Hill faced off against veteran fighter Glover Teixeira. From the opening bell, Teixeira sought to take the fight to the ground, but Hill's defense kept him at bay.
Both fighters landed solid shots, with Hill focusing on leg kicks and body shots. Despite Teixeira's attempts at a takedown, Hill was able to stay on his feet and continue to land shots. As the fight progressed, Hill's striking became increasingly effective.
In the second round, Hill rocked Teixeira with a high kick, and landed a series of uppercuts. Teixeira managed to knock Hill down in the middle of the round, but Hill quickly regained his footing. The two fighters continued to trade shots, with Hill's high kicks proving to be particularly devastating.
In the third round, Teixeira again sought to take the fight to the ground, but Hill's defense held strong. Hill continued to land the high kick, and a particularly hard one in the final seconds of the round knocked Teixeira down.
Despite the damage he had taken, Teixeira managed to make it through to the fourth round. However, Hill's striking continued to be effective, and Teixeira's face showed the toll of the fight. In the final round, the doctor came in to check on Teixeira, who, despite his injuries, insisted on continuing the fight.
However, Hill ultimately emerged victorious, winning by unanimous decision and becoming the first fighter in UFC history to enter through the DWCS and take the belt.
