The current UFC welterweight champion of the world, Leon 'rocky' Edwards is set to defend his belt for the second time. The title defense could most probably take place in the ending phase of 2023, and The UFC and dana white has made it pretty clear that it's Colby 'Chaos' Covington who will be getting a title shot next.

As far as the venue is concerned, Leon Edwards does not seem to be interested to fight in London unless it promises him a hefty payday. He aims to fight in UAE, and it will be interesting to see what the UFC have to say about it.

Leon Edwards on his next title defense

Recently in an interview conducted by Sky Sports, Leon Edwards spoke about fighting in Abu Dhabi next and explained why fighting in July won't be ideal for him. He does not look forward to fighting Colby Covington as he thinks he hasn't earned it yet; unfortunately, his say won't have an impact on fighting an opponent of his choice.

"Unless it comes with some stupid money, then I might consider (London)," Edwards said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. "The bag always talks. Come with some stupid money, and I might consider it. I fought under a month ago, so I've still got stuff I've got to do first.

Literally next week, I would have to be back in camp. August to March, I did that already. Now they're saying March to July (camp for the next one). I don't think it makes sense". "In the last year or so, I've fought three times I think.

I'd love to fight now towards the end of the year. The Abu Dhabi card card would be great. That would be the perfect timing. You've got a massive British population in the Emirates on that side of the world, so I feel like there'll be a lot of fans coming out to see me, as well. That would be for me ideal".
