Amanda Lemos has had a fantastic UFC career so far; she is one step away from taking her journey to the next level. The challenge lined up against her is no easy one; Weili Zhang has worked really hard to cement her position as the Strawweight champion of the world.
The match is scheduled to take place on August 20th. Weili Zhang has more fighting experience than Amanda Lemos, but both fighters are phenomenally skilled, and this is undeniably a terrific match-up. Amanda Lemos is aware of the challenge that’s ahead, yet she is confident in her abilities and believes she will walk out of the octagon as the new strawweight champion of the world.
Amanda Lemos talks about the title shot
Amana Lemos acknowledges how much of a threat Weili Zhang is, yet she believes that she can emerge victoriously on August 20th. Lemos spoke about this on MMA Fighting’s Trocação Franca podcast.
“Weili is very explosive,” Lemos said, as quoted by mmafighting.com. “She likes to finish fights just like myself, so we’ll set the octagon on fire. I’ll get in there to win. We have a nice strategy, and I’m sure I’ll leave the cage with the belt”.
“Weili is very dangerous, so I have to stay alert of all of her movements, her being that explosive is a good thing we’re studying in training. It’s going to be a super tough fight. We’ll give our all in there.
She wants her belt, I want that belt for me, so it definitely won’t be left in the hands of the judges”. “I’m sharpening my tools in all areas,” Lemos further said. “I feel I’m evolving in each training.
I have a new jiu-jitsu coach and he’s badass. I’m learning new tricks I can’t wait to put them in practice. I can’t tell you how it’s going to end, but it won’t go the distance. It’s either a knockout or a submission, that’s what I’m coming after on August 19th”.
