Paulo Costa is set to make his return after he nearly left the UFC due to contract conflicts. Managers and the UFC were successful in fulfilling Costa’s requirements, which led to him signing the new contract. After taking quite a long break, Paulo Costa will be making his return against Ikram Aliskerov in the UFC 291 event.

The match is scheduled to take place on 29th July; Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje 2 is headlined as the main event. Paulo Costa last fought in August, where he secured a win against Luke Rockhold, he was supposed to have a fight with Robert Whittaker, but that matchup got cancelled.

Khamzat Chimaev’s thoughts on Paulo Costa’s return

Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev are bound to fight at some point in the future, and it will be super entertaining as the match between the two promises a lot of trash-talking.

Both fighters are terrific strikers, and it will be a competitive knock. Perhaps somewhere in 2024, the fans will get to witness this matchup. Recently Khamzat Chimaev spoke about Paulo Costa on his YouTube channel; he spoke about Costa’s next match and predicted the outcome of the event.

Chimaev looks forward to smashing Paulo Costa. “Paulo has spoken a lot of sh*t about me,” Chimaev said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “That guy, I want to smash him. I want to kill this guy. I was doing a lot of things, and he wants to fight with the other guy.

The guy, I fought him a long time before – three or four years ago, before UFC. I win against that guy. “I think the guy will beat him, as well. Paulo is not good. He is sh*t. He just talks too much. He beat nobody. A close fight against Romero, only fighter he wins against.

Other people, I don’t know. Nobody knows these guys. I don’t know who he beat”.
