The middleweight contender Paulo Costa and the UFC went back and forth with multiple agreements for a lengthy period of time and finally reached to a conclusion where both parties are fulfilled; it's somewhat a win-win. Paulo Costa last clashed against Luke Rockhold, and that match was a terrific one.
However, fans have raised many questions regarding his next opponent Ikram Aliskerov who isn't even featured in the top 15 rankings. Perhaps it is just a way to build momentum; Dana White speaks about it and addresses that it's no ordinary opponent.
He believes Aliskerov is a tough challenge. In less than two months, we will find out how competitive the fight really is.
Dana White speaks about negotiating with Paulo Costa
Recently in an interview with Ag Fight, Dana White spoke about convincing Paulo Costa to get back under the UFC contract.
He acknowledges that it wasn't easy and looks forward to his upcoming match against Ikram Aliskerov. “I think that every fighter we deal with is different in certain ways,” White said as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com.
“Some are easy, some are tougher, but that’s our job, that’s what we do. Our job is to get deals done, and we finally got him dialed in, and it will be fun to see him fight in Utah". “His last fight with Rockhold was awesome.
It was an incredible war. It’s one of those fights that if you were there live that night or watching on TV, it’s a fight you’ll never forget. So, he’s fun to watch. It’ll be good to have him back”.
Ikram Aliskerov has a professional record of 14-1; he recently fought against Phil Hawes and secured a dominating Knockout victory. All eyes will be on him on the 29th of July to see if he can shock the MMA world. Dane White further said:“I guarantee you this: He’s fighting a tough guy, and it’ll be a damn good fight, and like I said before, when you’re negotiating and doing deals with fights, you know they’re not as easy behind the scenes as they seem on the surface”.
