Philipe Lins reveals who he wants to fight next

Philipe ‘Monstro’ Lins is on a terrific 3 match winning streak, and after winning against Maxim Grishin yesterday, he is clear about who he wants to fight next. It is none other than the 7th ranked light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith.

Lins has earned the right to call out Anthony Smith, and it will be very interesting to see if the UFC can arrange a match between the two in the future. Anthony Smith faced successive defeats against Magomed Ankalaev and Johnny Walker.

The veteran has been in the UFC for a very long time, and it's time he may consider retiring, perhaps after a few more matches.

Philipe Lins on fighting Anthony Smith

Recently in an episode of the MMA Fighting podcast Trocação Franca, the light heavyweight contender Phillpe Lins speaks about fighting Anthony Smith and explains why he wants him next.

He understands what it takes to be a highlight-worthy opponent and looks forward to putting on a show in his future matches. “There’s a good ranked fighter who fought recently, Anthony Smith, and I think I’m a good match-up for him,” Lins said, as quoted by “I think it’s a good fight.

He’s very experienced, fought great fights and proved he’s very dangerous, so let’s go for it. If the UFC asks me [who I want] and wants to give me this fight next, let’s do it”. He further said: “Let’s see if I get another knockout, or maybe a submission.

The important is that I go there and get my third straight victory in the organization. People like to watch exciting fights and people getting knocked out, so that motivates me because it’s my style”. Philipe Lins won via unanimous decision against Maxim Grishin, he is on the winning page, and a few more convincing victories can fulfil his quest to fight against higher-ranked contenders. Lins is a consistent fighter, and he should soon get the opportunity that he strongly wants.
