Alex Pereira will be making his light heavyweight debut next month against the top contender Jan Blachowicz an interesting match that the UFC fans are looking forward to. Surprisingly, Alex Pereira will be training with his former opponent Sean Strickland; both of them fought at middleweight, and Pereira brutally knocked him out in the very first round.
Sean Strickland will be going to Connecticut and will be training for his upcoming match against Abus Magomedov. During the course of their time together, Alex Pereira looks forward to improving and strengthening the way he communicates in English.
Alex Pereira on training with Sean Strickland
Recently in an interview with The MMA Hour, Alex Pereira revealed that he would be training with the middleweight fighter Sean Strickland. He also mentions how he feels about losing to Israel Adesanya.
“I’m actually giving you breaking news right now,” Pereira said, as quoted by mmafighting.com. “Sean Strickland’s coming to Connecticut next week for one week to train with me for his next fight.
I’m going to learn English with Sean Strickland”. He describes Strickland as a person: “He’s a bit crazy, but he’s a nice guy, he talks against people, but he always treats me with respect”.
Pereira spoke about Israel Adesanya: “No, I move on from here, I can’t keep holding grudges on that because, otherwise it would not benefit me on my next fight. So I gotta let it go. I thought, re-thought about everything that happened to study everything, and the fact that I beat him three times made me feel a little better about it.
So let’s just move on to the next one”. This is the beauty of the sport; two opponents fought each other and yet have so much respect and compassion to share with one another. Alex Pereira knocked out Sean Strickland, yet they have no hidden animosity; they are going to help each other out for their upcoming matches.
It will be very interesting to see if Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland ever participate in a rematch; perhaps it could happen at light heavyweight. Pereira recently mentioned that he is open to dropping down to 185 at any time as he is more comfortable with the weight shifts.
