Alexandre Pantoja snatched the UFC flyweight belt from Brandon Moreno

The UFC bantamweight division has a new champion: Alexandre Pantoja. He showed the world what he’s capable of doing. After 5 rounds of competitive action, the judges declared Alexandre Pantoja the winner by split decision.

The UFC 290 event was one of the most entertaining events of the year; it was stacked with the best fights. Interestingly, this was a rematch between Pantoja and Moreno; even in their first encounter Pantoja won – which rules out the possibility of an instant trilogy.

As far as this match is concerned, it was nothing less than intense both fighters gave their all, and Pantoja locked the victory by a close margin; most fans were disappointed to see Moreno lose his belt once again, and his next step from here is quite difficult to predict.

Moreno could fight someone from the top 5 next.

Alexandre Pantoja’s octagon interview

It was a very emotional moment for Alexandre Pantoja; he was relieved when his hands were raised and when he was announced the winner.

He tried to express his fulfilment in the octagon interview with Joe Rogan – the crowd wasn’t exactly cheering him, but in spite of that, he was living in the moment and enjoying it. “If you know my story, you’re going to love me,” Pantoja said, as quoted by mmafighting.com.

“I worked so hard for that. Moreno evolved so much. I didn’t expect a tough guy like that tonight. I worked so hard”. “In the first round, I thought Moreno was done and he came back, this guy deserves all the love for Mexico.

He deserves my respect, too. Now I worked so hard for that and now it’s my moment”. Alexandre Pantoja can be expected to defend his hard-earned belt before the end of 2023, and it will be interesting to see if he can long endure his position as the bantamweight champion of the world with successful title defenses.
