Alex Pereira’s first title defense was a successful one; he absolutely outplayed Jamahal Hill and made him look clueless. After attacking Jamahal Hill with aggressive striking, Alex Pereira secured a classy first-round knockout.

Interestingly, Alex Pereira wants to compete in the heavyweight division; he seeks to return as early as possible.

Alex Pereira repeatedly mentioned fighting at UFC 301, which is booked for 4th May. Dana White isn’t very thrilled about Alex Pereira’s pulsating desire to make another jump in weight classes. Dana White is questioning if it’s a viable option for Alex Pereira to compete in the heavyweight division; he would prefer seeing Pereira continue dominating in the light heavyweight division.

Dana White on Alex Pereira moving to heavyweight

During the post-fight press conference, Dana White shared his thoughts on Alex Pereira's willingness to fight at heavyweight next.

“When you think about him moving up to heavyweight – you’ve got (Jon) Jones, you’ve got Aspinall and the list goes on and on in that heavyweight division,” White said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “Heavyweight division is nasty.

I don’t know if that’s the right move for him. He looked damn good tonight in the division he’s in, so I think he might want to stick around there for a minute. But I don’t know. These are all things that we’ll talk about”.
