Colby Covington unleashed his chaotic side against Ian Machado Garry; both fighters went back and forth on several occasions and when it almost seemed to be translating into a real fight, things went down real quick. According to Covington, he didn’t accept a fight with Ian Machado Garry because he’s in search of big fights and in his opinion, Machado Garry does not fit into that category.

Moreover, he wasn’t pleased with how Ian Machado Garry was trying to “call the shots”. Colby Covington looks forward to feeling healthy, and once he does, he will indicate a green light and make a return.

Colby Covington on dismissing a fight with Ian Machado Garry

Recently on SOSCAST w/ Adam Sosnick, Colby Covington explained why he didn’t accept a fight with Ian Machado Garry.

“I’m not going to rush out there on someone else’s timeline," Covington said as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. "I’m on my own timeline. The UFC knows that. I’m already a superstar and I’ve made so much money I don’t need to fight ever again.

It’s really on my time, and I’ll fight when I’m ready to fight and when I’m healthy. I want big fights. This kid’s a nobody. He just got a split decision over the 12th-ranked kid. I’ve been fighting world champion after world champion for the last seven years straight.

So why does this kid deserve to fight me? He’s literally the B-side and thinks he calls the shots and is the A-side. I’m going to get healthy and I’m going to look for the biggest and best fights possible”.
