The 27-year-old American told FIS afterward,
"It felt good.
My skiing, on the second run especially, felt very good. I made the adjustment that I wanted to make which... it's just a really nice feeling. I'm excited to ski it again tomorrow. Finally, we're racing and actually quite a spectacular race to start with in very nice conditions." "Today was a really good day.
It was not easy, I was a bit nervous but, in the end, I could ski the way I wanted to." - Mikaela Shiffrin. It was Holdener’s second run, however, that seemed untouchable. It was, by everyone except Shiffrin. “I just tried to push really hard.
I was actually really surprised,” said Shiffrin. “She’s so strong,” said Shiffrin of Holdener. “I love to race with her. She’s pushed my limit”. The German Lena Duerr and the Swede Sara Hector finished among the top five, while the Croatian Leona Popovic had a great day, finishing the race in sixth place, while Zrinka Ljutic finished in the seventh position.
