After a historic reign as a Universal Champion of over 2 years, accompanied by that of WWE Champion, Roman Reigns adds another milestone to his already rich palmares: he has in fact been elected best wrestler of 2022 by the historic Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine.
Now in its thirty-second edition, the magazine has decided to put the Tribal Chief first, who then reaches the summit again two years after Seth Rollins. Roman then beat Kazuchika Okada, CM Punk and Adam Hangman Page, who finished second, third and fourth respectively.
In fifth position we find Bobby Lashley, current United States Champion in WWE. We would like to clarify how this is a ranking made in a mark key that takes into account the storylines and achievements obtained on TV. This year, however, Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega, two strong names of the AEW, have not found space.
At the moment Roman Reigns seems unstoppable and, if he has overcome the obstacle Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle, he could even remain champion until WrestleMania 39. A complicated situation that is also creating problems for the creative management of Triple H.
WrestleVotes has now wanted to give a further update on Twitter to report that, while WWE wants to have two champions in the coming months towards WrestleMania, they do not want Roman Reigns to lose a match between now and April, so they are fighting with two very conflicting thoughts and plans.
There was also talk of a turn face for Reigns and Paul Heyman (currently out of the scene) but the plans have been sent back to the sender. The Tribal Chief's popularity has now transcended the WWE world: his merchandise was recently exhibited live by a former NFL player.
Dan Orlovsky, a retired player for years who works as a sports commentator on TV, showed one of the latest WWE shirts produced for his Tribal Chief, with the brand "Acknowledge your daddy" prominently in front of the camera.
