"The Rock most likely by John Cena at WrestleMania 39," said Dave Meltzer

During the latest Wrestling Observer newsletter, journalist Dave Meltzer talked about the possibility of The Rock and John Cena appearing at WrestleMania 39. According to Meltzer, neither of them is sure they will be part of the event but John Cena would seem to be the most plausible name compared to Dwayne Johnson: "I don't know if The Rock will appear at WrestleMania, I'm not sure.

If he did it would be great to have Stone Cold Steve Austin and also John Cena all in the same PPV. For sure I think not on the same day because I think they will split them between the two evenings. Not even Cena is sure he will be part of the PPV, since he has a film in early 2023, so he won't be able to make many WWE show appearances and then he may have other things to do as well.

I have however been told that a John Cena appearance at WrestleMania is more possible while a The Rock appearance at the big event is more unlikely. Neither of them is sure, so they might as well both not be part of the event." Previously, Meltzer had reported that John Cena was committed to a film with Zac Efron in early 2023.

However, this does not exclude an appearance at WrestleMania by the Leader of the Cenation but it would make it difficult to better build his match given the short time available. It is not known if he will be part of WrestleMania 39 but we could have more information regarding his future in WWE during the match that he will play on Smackdown.

Fans are excited for WrestleMania 39 and are expecting an event packed with big stars. On the occasion of the return to Hollywood for the first time since 2005, WWE would also be trying to please the wishes of the fans. Not only will Cody Rhodes and Charlotte Flair enter the ring at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, but according to some rumors Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock could also return to the ring.

The rumors about possible returns to the Showcase of the Immortals thus continue unabated. Last in chronological order is John Cena, whose appearances in WWE have drastically decreased in recent years due to his commitments in the film world.

Still, that doesn't mean he can't return to in-ring action one day and for that reason WrestleMania 39 could be the place to be. 2022 looked like it could be the first year that John Cena would not step inside a ring once but that will not be the case as before the end of the year he will team up with Kevin Owens to face Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn in the December 30 episode of SmackDown.
