After the various scandals that had led Vince McMahon to retirement last summer, only to then recently return to regain all his powers in WWE, we learn thanks to the Wall Street Journal that one of these would have culminated in an agreement between him and one of the people who had accused him of harassment, namely former WWE referee Rita Chatterton.

These are the words of the site: "Vince McMahon, executive chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc., has accepted a multimillion-dollar legal settlement with a former wrestling referee who accused him of raping her in 1986, according to people familiar with the agreement.

Mr. McMahon's settlement with Rita Chatterton, completed last month, averts a public legal fight over his allegations as Mr. McMahon pursues a possible sale of the company. Ms. Chatterton, the first female referee for what was then known as the World Wrestling Federation, sought $11.75 million in damages for the alleged rape in a November letter to Mr.

McMahon's attorney seen by The Wall Street Journal. Ms. Chatterton accepted a smaller amount of millions of dollars, said one of the people familiar with the matter, but the Journal could not determine the exact figure.

Negation and no comment

The site elaborated on the matter by reporting: “'Mr.

McMahon denies and has always denied raping Mrs. Chatterton. And he only settled the case to avoid the cost of litigation,” said Jerry McDevitt, an attorney for Mr. McMahon: "Ms. Chatterton told the Journal, through her attorney John Clune, that she declined to comment.

WWE did not respond to requests for comment." It therefore seems that one of the lawsuits against the Chairman has been closed, even if he has a lot to fry right now on a legal level, given that he receives complaints after complaints every day. In the coming weeks there will come other updates about Vince's issue and the troubles he could face.
