Boeing is an American aeronautical company that produces aircraft for both civil and military use, founded in Seattle in 1916. It is the second largest civil aviation manufacturer in the world as well as the second largest contractor for the United States government. In 2023, Boeing and NASA presented the Sustainable Flight Demonstrator project, which consists of building and testing a single-aisle aircraft by the end of the decade that reduces emissions according to a statement from the US space agency.

Boeing was founded on July 15, 1916 by William Boeing and George Conrad Westervelt, a United States Navy engineer. It took the name B&W, from their initials. Shortly thereafter the name was changed to Pacific Aero Products and, in 1917, to Boeing Airplane Company.
