Doctor Strange

Doctor Stephen Strange is a comic book character published by Marvel Comics. Created by Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in Strange Tales (vol. 1) #1. 110 of July 1963. Doctor Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme, the Earth's main protector against magical and mystical threats. Strange was introduced during the Silver Age of comics in an attempt to bring a different type of character and themes of mysticism to Marvel Comics.

A renowned neurosurgeon whose career was irreparably destroyed by a car accident, Doctor Strange becomes the Sorcerer Supreme thanks to his immense knowledge of powerful spells and occult arts and two magical artifacts. Strange resides in a building called the Sanctum Sanctorum at 177A Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe films he is played by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
