Dustin Poirier

Dustin Poirier is an American mixed martial arts fighter. He fights in the lightweight category for the UFC organization, in which he was interim champion in 2019 and title challenger in the same year and in 2021.

On April 13, 2019 he faced Max Holloway for the second time with the interim lightweight title on the line. At the end of five very tense rounds, with both athletes seriously injured and bleeding, Poirier was proclaimed the winner by unanimous decision and the match was later judged Fight of the Night. On September 7 of the same year, Poirier faced undisputed champion Khabib Nurmagomedov to unify the lightweight titles, but was defeated by submission in the third round.
He returns to fight on December 11, 2021 at UFC 269 in a match valid for the lightweight title against the champion Charles Oliveira: once again Poirier fails to win the belt, falling victim to Oliveira's standing rear-naked choke shortly after the start of the third round. On November 12, 2022 he returns to the octagon to face Michael Chandler. The fight will end in the first half of the third round with a submission victory for Poirier.
