Kate Middleton

Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, is the wife of the heir to the throne William, Prince of Wales. Kate is considered a style icon especially in the UK. Several websites and weekly magazines, including Vanity Fair and Style.com have included her in various rankings. The BeautifulPeople.com site placed her in third place in the ranking of the most beautiful royals ever, behind Grace of Monaco and Rania of Jordan, and ahead of her husband William's mother, Lady Diana Spencer. In the UK, dolls have even been named after her. Catherine's impact on British and American fashion and customs has been defined by the media as the Kate Middleton effect, and in 2012 as well as 2013, she was chosen among the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.

Kate was born in Reading and raised in Bucklebury, a village near Newbury, Berkshire, England. She studied art history in Scotland at the University of St Andrews, where she met Prince William in 2001 at a fashion show. The official engagement with William was announced in November 2010 and the couple got married on April 29, 2011 in Westminster Abbey. Their children, George, Charlotte and Louis, are second, third and fourth respectively in line to the British throne, after their father. In February 2024 Kate was admitted to the prestigious London Clinic for an unspecified abdominal surgery. In March 2024 she revealed that she has cancer and has already started chemotherapy, although she did not specify what type of cancer she has and where it is located.
