Benjamin Netanyahu

Benjamin Netanyahu has been the Prime Minister of Israel since December 29, 2022 and previously from 2009 to 2021 and between 1996 and 1999. He is a member of the Knesset and leader of the conservative Likud party. He is the first leader to be born in the country since its foundation in 1948 and the one who remained in office as head of government the longest in Israel's history.

In addition to his hard line in the Israel-Gaza Strip conflict, Netanyahu has attracted criticism on some occasions. He receives a lot of criticism and is at the center of much controversy for his management of the war and occupation of the Gaza Strip, a conflict that began on 8 October 2023 following Hamas attacks in Israel. Netanyahu is charged with war crimes, at the beginning of 2024.
